The activity of the Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers (SD-AC) for the academic year 2020-2021 is presented in the report delivered by the Director of SD-AC. It also outlines the strategic and operational priorities for the period 2021-2022. Structured around essential themes, the reporting session analyzes both recent administrative and academic progress, as well as future development directions.
A central point of the report is the institutional evaluation and accreditation. For the first time, the Doctoral School went through the complete accreditation process carried out by ARACIS. In addition, a formal evaluation session was organized, also for the first time, by doctoral students, aimed at collecting direct feedback on the quality of the educational process and research guidance.
In the chapter human resources and academic dynamics, the report analyzes in detail:
- The situation of doctoral supervisors and doctoral students, following the evolution of the numbers over the academic years (from 2016/2017 to 2021/2022).
- Admission to doctoral and postdoctoral programs, evaluating the attractiveness and absorption capacity of the doctoral school.
- The process of completing studies, with an emphasis on doctoral theses publicly defended in the year of analysis.
- Motivation measures, highlighting the introduction of a 1% bonus for outstanding performance.
Regarding research activity and scientific visibility, the projects carried out, the publications in prestigious journals and conferences, as well as the total budget associated with these activities are presented. Also highlighted are the scientific events organized under the aegis of SD-AC and the periodic meetings held with doctoral students to maintain an open dialogue.
The 2021-2022 Proposal Plan aims to strengthen academic and administrative performance by:
- Development of research projects: launching new project proposals designed to attract additional funding and resources.
- Improvement of internal processes: adapting procedures based on the conclusions drawn from the ARACIS accreditation and the evaluations carried out by doctoral students.
- Optimization of collaboration: streamlining communication between doctoral supervisors, doctoral students and the management of the doctoral school.
In conclusion, the report presented by the director of SD-AC reflects a period of institutional maturation for the Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers, marked by the successful passage through rigorous external evaluations (ARACIS) and by the firm orientation towards scientific excellence and decision-making transparency.
