SD-AC fills the available places through a competitive admission process, in accordance with the following regulations:

Available Places

Admission to doctoral studies is limited to the places allocated annually by:

  • Ministry of Education, for state-funded doctoral studies in the form of doctoral grants.
  • POLITEHNICA Bucharest, for tuition-fee doctoral studies, with the fee paid by the doctoral student.

Step 1: Validation and Guidance

Candidates should begin completing the admission application as early as possible using the admitere.pub.ro, Doctoral Studies.
To identify a doctoral supervisor, consult the section dedicated to research topics.

Step 2: Application Submission

Candidates submit their application file online through the admission platform during the period specified in the calendar.

Required Documents

  1. Application form – Annex 2. Download Annex 2
  2. Curriculum vitae. The Europass format is recommended. Europass Template
  3. List of published works. Download the list
  4. Scanned documents:
    • graduation diplomas: bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or long-cycle studies;
    • diploma supplements for bachelor’s and master’s degrees;
    • baccalaureate diploma;
    • birth certificate;
    • marriage certificate or another document proving a name change, where applicable.
  5. Proof of payment of the application fee.
  6. Copy of the identity card.

  9. Letter of recommendation from an expert in the field.

Note for Current-Year Graduates

Candidates graduating from a master’s program in the current year may apply and participate in the admission competition. After graduation, they must submit their study documents to the application file.

Application Fee

200 RON for candidates from outside POLITEHNICA Bucharest.
100 RON for graduates of a master’s program at POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

Step 3: Evaluation of the Application File and Candidate

SD-AC ensures transparency of the selection and admission procedures, evaluation criteria, and standards imposed on candidates.
The doctoral supervisor evaluates the candidate’s application individually. An online interview may be organized in order to issue a positive recommendation.

During the Interview

  • academic and professional background;
  • relevant research results;
  • research topic and research interests;
  • new contributions and solutions investigated.

Evaluation Result

The candidate receives the result Accepted sau Rejected.

Candidates declared accepted participate in the competition organized at Doctoral School level for the allocation of a state-funded or tuition-fee place and doctoral scholarships.

Step 4: Allocation of Places and Doctoral Scholarships

The admission committee evaluates accepted candidates for the allocation of places in the SD-AC doctoral program and for the award of doctoral scholarships.

  • level of preparation and knowledge in the field;
  • ability to identify the major research directions;
  • ability to formulate solutions and methods for the proposed topic;
  • ability to complete the doctoral program.

The quantitative criteria are presented in the Admission Methodology, Article 5 – Annex 3.

Presentation for the Examination

Candidates must prepare a presentation based on the PhD Proposal, in Romanian or English.

Step 5: Enrollment

The competition results are validated and published on the SD-AC admission page.
Accepted candidates must enroll online within 48 de ore from the publication of the results.
The following are required for enrollment:

  • master’s diploma or graduation certificate;
  • academic transcript;
  • proof of payment of the enrollment fee.

The enrollment fee is 50 RON and is paid online.
The doctoral study agreement must be completed and signed by the beginning of the academic year.

International Candidates

Information for candidates from European Union member states and from countries outside the European Union.

Candidates from EU Countries

Applications are submitted in accordance with the information published by POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

Applications are submitted according to the procedures dedicated to international candidates.
Information for non-EU candidates

International candidates follow the same procedures and the same validation and admission workflow as Romanian citizens.
