The Relationship between SD-AC and IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest
The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest is an Institution Organizing Doctoral Studies (IOSUD). SD-AC carries out its activities within IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest and has ex officio representatives and/or invited members within CSUD (Council for Doctoral Studies).
SD-AC is represented by the Director of the Doctoral School or by one of the CSD members (upon the Director’s proposal), who cooperates directly with the Director of CSUD, who leads IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest, for all necessary approvals and endorsements, in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force. The Director of CSUD provides organizational and legal support, as appropriate, for the proper conduct of activities within the Doctoral School. CSUD ensures the funding of SD-AC in accordance with institutional decisions.
The Director of the Doctoral School is responsible for the management and operational leadership of the Doctoral School. The Director oversees the development and implementation of curricula, staffing plans, research and quality management, and supports the IOSUD leadership in the financial management of the Doctoral School. In carrying out these responsibilities, the Director is assisted by the Doctoral School Council.
Support for Doctoral Students
IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest allocates at least 20% of doctoral grant funding to research activities carried out by doctoral students, including their national and international mobility. The methodology for accessing these funds is available on the SD-AC website.
Ethics and Academic Integrity
The SD-AC community observes the principles of ethics and academic integrity established by its own regulations and by the POLITEHNICA Bucharest Charter.
All breaches of academic, scientific, or professional ethics and integrity identified within SD-AC are handled in accordance with the provisions of the POLITEHNICA Bucharest Charter and together with the relevant approved Ethics Committees. SD-AC and IOSUD take measures to prevent and sanction violations of scientific, professional, and university ethics standards, in accordance with the POLITEHNICA Bucharest Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Support for Doctoral Training
IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest ensures the organization of the complementary courses within the PPA: (1) Research Methodology and Scientific Authorship; (2) Ethics; and (3) Project Management.
Providing the resources required for doctoral training is an institutional responsibility of IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest, SD-AC, and the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers.
Habilitation of New Doctoral Supervisors
The preparation of the habilitation file, the public defense of the habilitation thesis, and the submission of documents to CNATDCU are carried out in accordance with the regulations on habilitation and the granting of doctoral supervisor status within IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest. A candidate who has applied for habilitation through SD-AC is not required to become affiliated with SD-AC.
Periodic Monitoring
The performance criteria will take into account at least the following general categories of activity applicable to SD-AC and IOSUD-POLITEHNICA Bucharest: (1) Institutional Capacity, (2) Educational and Research Effectiveness, and (3) Quality Management.
Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD)
The Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD) is the body that leads the Institution Organizing Doctoral Studies (IOSUD). It is established in accordance with the legal provisions in force. The objectives of CSUD include defining the IOSUD strategy, developing the institutional regulations for the organization and conduct of doctoral study programs at IOSUD level, as well as other specific responsibilities established by the institutional regulations governing the organization and conduct of doctoral study programs.
