Jointly Supervised Doctorate

A jointly supervised doctorate is a form of doctoral study in which a student is supervised by two doctoral supervisors from different national or international institutions. At the end of the program, the doctoral student may obtain a double degree or a degree officially recognized by both partner universities.

General Principles

Two Doctoral Supervisors
one primary supervisor from the home institution and a second supervisor from the partner institution.
Joint Supervision Agreement
a joint supervision agreement is signed between the two institutions, establishing the funding rules, duration, thesis language, and other aspects of the collaboration.
Mobility
the doctoral student spends periods of time at both institutions involved.
Single Doctoral Thesis
the doctoral thesis is defended before a joint committee, in accordance with the regulations established by the joint supervision agreement.

The Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers (SD-AC) has concluded agreements with foreign universities for a number of jointly supervised doctoral theses currently pursued by Romanian doctoral students in the fields of Systems Engineering (IS) and Computers and Information Technology (CTI).
