The SD-AC General Assembly meeting, presented by Prof. Florin POP on behalf of the Doctoral School Council, will address key administrative, academic, and strategic directions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
1. 2025 Doctoral Admission
The admission schedule includes the close of registration on September 19, 2025 (with a total of 95 candidates as of September 17: 54 in CTI and 41 in IS). Oral interviews and the posting of results will take place on September 22–23, followed by contract signing (September 23–24) and enrollment. Doctoral studies begin on September 29. The doctoral scholarship remains at 3,700 RON/month for all scholarship-holding doctoral students and is not subject to re-evaluation.
2. Faculty Progression and New Criteria
In 2025, new faculty members with habilitation joined the school (Iuliana Marin, Alexandra Cernian, Iulia Stamatescu, Bogdan Dumitru Ciubotaru, Tudor Ionescu, Florin Anton, Silviu Răileanu), while others are currently finalizing the process. The new national criteria for habilitation (OMEC 3019/2025), effective October 2026, were presented, as were the minimum requirements for doctoral completion for students admitted in 2025 (OMEC 3018/2025). The latter must publish at least three WoS/Scopus-indexed articles as first author (including at least one in a journal with an impact factor or an A*/A/B-ranked conference—or a patent—and at least one at a conference).
3. Doctoral studies and administrative aspects
Administrative requirements for doctoral students are detailed: submission of progress reports (two per year), the research plan at the end of the first year, new course syllabi, and the use of the my.upb.ro platform. Clarifications were provided regarding extensions, interruptions, travel, and fund management.
4. 2025–2026 accreditation and the new SD-AC Regulation
SD-AC is preparing the self-assessment for accreditation (November 2025), which will be followed by an evaluation visit in January–February 2026. The new SD-AC Regulation is open for public consultation between September 14 and 25, 2025, with a vote scheduled for September 29–30.
5. Future initiatives and meetings
Collaborations with industry partners (Adobe, Orange Services) were highlighted, and upcoming SD-AC meetings were scheduled for October 16 and December 11, 2025.
