On November 2, 2022, the General Assembly of the Doctoral School of Automation and Computers (SD-AC) will review the admission results for the 2022–2023 academic year, as well as the institution’s academic activities and administrative regulations.

Admissions and academic progress.

  • Across the university, 507 doctoral students were admitted to state-funded places and 37 to fee-paying places, with 250 scholarships allocated. Within SD-AC, out of a total of 74 admitted doctoral students (41 in Computers and Information Technology – CTI and 33 in Systems Engineering – IS), 4 were admitted to fee-paying places, and 37 received scholarships following the evaluation (21 CTI and 16 IS).
  • Additionally, 7 candidates were admitted to postdoctoral programs (in April and September).

Between January 1 and November 1, 2022, 24 doctoral theses were defended (12 in CTI and 12 in IS), surpassing figures from previous years (19 in 2021 and 15 in 2020), with another 7 theses currently in preparation.

  • Regarding habilitations, 4 recent cases were recorded, 2 dossiers are under review by CNATDCU, and 6 habilitations have been announced.

Events and administrative regulations

  • On November 21, 2022, an event dedicated to doctoral and postdoctoral students was organized to facilitate the presentation of achievements and the publication of abstracts, featuring the participation and sponsorship of companies in the field.
  • Regarding administrative decisions, the automatic generation of contracts and the interoperability of digital platforms were highlighted. Regulations stipulate that committee members based outside the city may participate in defenses online, while supervisors receive remuneration of 2,500 RON per completed thesis, plus a 1% bonus for each doctoral student from the 4th to the 13th.
  • Additionally, appointment to a professor position is conditional upon supervising at least two doctoral students. Challenges mentioned include the lack of dedicated premises for the SD A&C (Doctoral School of Automation and Computers) and insufficient space for archiving.
