The General Assembly of the Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers (SD-AC) at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest will take place on June 27, 2022. The topics proposed for discussion include: habilitation and admission, PhD Student Days, the OPTIM project for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, the results of the 2021 internal evaluation, and future SD-AC actions.

Key topics addressed include:

Habilitation and admission: The faculty members proposed for habilitation are listed (Janeta Culiță, Mihai Carabaș, Alexandru Boica, and Andrei Vasilățeanu), alongside details regarding the 2022–2023 admission process—which has already seen the acceptance of 7 PhD students—and requirements such as the research proposal, self-evaluation form, and letter of recommendation.

PhD Student Days (June 24–25, 2022): The doctoral symposium program is presented, featuring the awarding of the “Studio et opere excellens” prizes (to Dr. Eng. Andra-Elena Băltoiu and Dr. Eng. Maria-Dorinela Dascălu), a lecture by special guest Prof. Scott Crossley, and scientific presentation sessions delivered by PhD students.

The OPTIM Project: A program dedicated to supporting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers through funding opportunities, pedagogical training, networking, and courses on research valorization and Open Science. Internal evaluation results (2021): statistical data show that the majority of students are active in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology; over 90% are state-funded (with or without a scholarship), and more than half are employed by companies. Key challenges identified by doctoral students include a lack of time, insufficient funding, and a fear of publishing. Suggestions put forward include fostering a closer-knit community, organizing summer schools, and expanding industry collaboration.

Future projects: developing a promotional brochure for the doctoral school alongside updates to the website and social media channels, followed by upcoming meetings in October (analyzing admissions and preparing the postdoctoral event) and December 2022 (activity report).
