The General Assembly of the Doctoral School of Automatic Control and Computers is scheduled for April 2, 2024, to address administrative, organizational, and academic matters for the 2023–2024 academic year.
2024–2025 Doctoral Admission
The admission schedule runs from April 1 to September 25, 2024. The process involves the validation of application files and candidate evaluation by doctoral supervisors, followed by an oral interview (September 26–27) and the allocation of scholarships based on the established ranking. The doctoral program is set to begin on October 1, 2024. The evaluation and ranking committees are chaired by Prof. Theodor Borangiu, PhD Eng. (Systems Engineering field) and Prof. Nicolae Țăpuș, PhD Eng. (Computers and Information Technology field). Evaluation is based on a form covering the research topic grade, prior experience, and the scholarship recommendation.
Developments and New Regulations
The doctoral program duration has been extended to four years, in accordance with Ministerial Order 3020/22.01.2024. As of October 2023, the doctoral scholarship stands at 3,200 RON. In the 2023–2024 academic year, 75 doctoral students were admitted (34 state-funded with scholarship, 34 state-funded without scholarship, and 7 fee-paying), with women accounting for approximately 40% of the total. Regulations mandate strict composition requirements for guidance committees (requiring at least one external member, with no overlap with the public defense committee) and introduce new responsibilities regarding academic integrity.
Habilitations and Updates
The presentation lists faculty members currently undergoing the habilitation process, including Costin-Gabriel Chiru, Maria-Iuliana Dascălu, Matei Popovici, Elena-Simona Apostol, Ciprian-Octavian Truică, Alexandra Cernian, Bogdan Dumitru Ciubotaru, Monica Pătrașcu, and Alexandru Costan. Doctoral supervisors are required to update their research topics and data on the dedicated platform by April 30, 2024.
Upcoming Events and General Meetings
Announced events include the launch of the *Studio et Opere Excellens* Awards (April 2024, with the award ceremony in September) and a PhD student event integrated into the RoEduNet conference (September 2024). The long-term agenda includes elections for the SD-AC leadership for the 2024–2029 term in the autumn and the presentation of the activity report in December 2024.
